Week best SIM only deals UK

If you do not like a monthly contract with a phone plan, there are options available if you are not comfortable in paying a huge amount every month.  SIM only deals may be the answer that you are looking for.  SIM only can be cheaper that contract with handset and you don’t have to commit for a long period.  You also have the flexibility to switch deals on a monthly basis if you need to.  This way you can get much better deals without being tied.  With an abundance of plans available from many of UK networks, it can be difficult to find the best plan available.  Here are our recommended plans for you.

Data requirements

There are some considerations when choosing a data plan.  If you are rarely connected to your Wi-Fi at home or office or if you use it for business purposes, you may want to consider a larger data plan.  Most SIM only deals now will come with a minimum of 250MB data and some with unlimited data.  Three Mobile currently offer unlimited 3 SIM only deals but if you prefer to have a much faster 4G connection than you should choose SIM only deals.  You will need to be cautious as not to get a huge data package, as you do not want to overspend on data, which cannot be rolled over every month.

Best Network

Finding the best SIM only deal does not always mean finding the plan for your money.  You should also consider which network is best for your needs.  If you live outside of cities and towns, you may want to check your network coverage as not all networks offer the same coverage.  Each provider has a web page where you can check for network coverage in your area, you can then choose the best network for your needs.

 International calling

If you have friends or relative abroad and need to call them, it is a good to have a tariff that also allows you to call internationally.  Most networks either include international calling or have the option to an add-on to allow you to call internationally.  Three for example has the international saver add-on.  With Three, you will get 3000 minutes to call from the UK by initially dialling 388 followed by the number.

SIM Only Best Choice for Some

SIM only is a type of mobile contract which comes without a phone. The mobile network provider will give you texts, minutes and data for a monthly line agreement.
There are some subtle differences between PAYG (Pay As You Go) and Pay Monthly. With PAYG you are not tied to a contract but can top up when desired. They are also referred to occasionally as SIM only too, you also do not get a phone but a SIM card. These types of offers are not subject to credit checks, which is ideal for people with bad credit or for the young who have not built up their credit score yet.
With a Pay Monthly you will usually have to be on a contract for 12, 18 or 24 months. SIM only is a great option, as the minimum contract is 30 days or optionally you can go for a better value 12 months plan.

Advantages of SIM only

The primary reason most will go for a SIM only deal, is that you do not have to pay for the cost of a new mobile phone. If the phone is adequate for making calls and browsing the internet or social media apps then there is no need to update the handset. Offline or SIM free mobile phones can cost several hundred pounds but by choosing to go for SIM only some significant savings can be made.
The tariff is also much better than PAYG and these are recurring if you do not cancel the plan, where as with PAYG you would have the inconvenience of topping up when your credit finishes.
Also as you are not tied down like Pay Monthly for 24 months, you can chop and change your tariff without hassle.

Disadvantages of SIM only

There are usually less offers with SIM only like bundled freebies. You would also have to provide the phone before committing to such a deal. SIM free phones are pricey to buy outright and the networks do tend to subsidise the cost of the handset on a Pay Monthly to attract you to these deals.

Zero mobile creates WhatSIM for Whatsapp users

For 10 Euros Italian mobile company Zeromobile has introduced a tariff for Whatsapp users. The new SIM allows users to send messages from 150 countries.

With Whatsapp now used my millons around the world. Zeromobile has taken to opportunity to capture some market for messaging users. Whatsapp is not only just a texting app but also allows you to send audio, video and pictures, but sadly aside from messages additional options will cost extra in the new tariff by the way of top up credit system starting from €5.

Doing the math, the WhatsApp is free for the first year of use, after which it will cost around 65p to renew. For an additional €10 you can get included messaging without signing up for a more expensive voice tariff. This type of tariff would be suitable for the messaging generation or parents getting a tariff for their children where they can control the costs.zeromobile-whatsim

The basic tariff allows you to send messages for free. If you are looking to download images, video or voice, then there is credit based system where you recharge for a minimum of €5. Not all countries are the same so you will have to look at the country tariff.

You can visit their website for more information. They quote, “With just €10 you can chat for free and without limits anywhere in the world for a year.” We hope that they bring this service to the UK where I am sure there will be much interest.

Let us know if you think the major operators in the UK Three mobile, EE, O2 and Vodafone should also do the same? I am sure they can introduce cheap tariffs to gain market share and customer base
